HARRY GOLDEN ERISMAN

Harry Golden Erisman was born on May 8, 1880, at Rohrerstown, Pa.; passed away at his home at 339 West 57th St., Los Angeles, Calif., on Sept. 30, 1950, aged 60 years.

He came to California at 21 years of age and in 1924 was married to Emma King. As an employee of U. S. Motors, he had a 25 year service record.

He will be especially remembered for his ability to quote correctly a great deal of Scripture and the exact location of each verse. He loved the Lord and gave his personal testimony freely among his fellow workmen. Another way in which he witnessed was by giving out tracts of which he always kept a ready supply on hand and in his pockets.

For many years he was superintendent of the Calvary Mennonite Sunday school, and in October 1943 he was ordained to the office of deacon.

The Erisman home was "home" for many years to a number of girls who worked in Los Angeles. The latch string was always out and true Christian hospitality was manifest in their home as they entertained hosts of friends and tourists.

Brother Erisman's illness was of such a nature that he did not suffer a great deal of pain, but those of us who knew hm well are glad that the Lord has called him home for to be in the presence of God is surely better — eternal rest, perfect joy and a perfect body, at home with the One whom he loved and served.

He leaves his wife Emma and two children, Harry Lester and Edna Mae, both at home; one sister, Florence Swartzendruber, and one brother, Albert, both of Los Angeles.

Funeral services were held at the Calvary Mennonite church, of which he was a member for 26 years. Special quartet music was rendered by David Sommers, Hugo Erickson, Leo King, and Robert Schrock of Los Angeles, and by Irvin Brunk, Elmer Hershberger, Marion Shetler, and Lloyd Eason of Upland.

Services were in charge of John D. Zehr, pastor of the Calvary church, Will Guengerich and Sherman Maust of upland, Calif. Burial was made in Inglewood cemetery.
