Alvina Peters, daughter of Frederick and Magdalena (Gearig) Peters, was born Aug. 19, 1889, near Ithaca, Mich. and departed this life on Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 1963, at the Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma, Mich. The cause of death was acute heart failure. She reached the age of 74 years, four months and 19 days.

About the age of 21 she felt the need of a Saviour, found forgiveness of her sins and upon confession of her faith was baptized by Min. Charles Peters and added to the Church of God, Mennonite. She remained a faithful member to the end.

On Nov. 2, 1913 she was joined in holy wedlock to Solomon Erbskorn by Min. Fred Fricke of the Newark Mennonite Church near Ithaca. They made their home in this vicinity and were blessed with six sons and two daughters; Barbara Friesen of Langdon, N. D., Elias of West Unity, Ohio, August of Bath, Mich., John of Morenci, Mich., James of Toledo, Ohio. and Edith of the home. Two sons, Joseph and Virgil, and one grandchild died in infancy.

In the spring of 1925 they moved to a farm in Fulton County, Ohio. They resided in that area until the autumn of 1946 when they returned to Gratiot County, Mich. On Nov. 2, 1963 they observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

She leaves to mourn her sudden departure her husband Solomon, her children and 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Frank of Ithaca and Joel of South Whitley, Ind.; and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Wilson of Perrinton, Mich. Her parents, one brother, Joseph, and two sisters Anna and Saloma, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held in the Newark Mennonite Church, Dec. 31, 1963 with ministers Donald Gable and Frank Hayns in charge. Min. Newell Letwiller was in charge of the graveside service at the Hayes Road Cemetery.
