text of obituary:

KATHARENA [sic KATHARINA] EPP

Katharena [sic Katharina] Epp, daughter of Jacob and Helena Funk, was born Aug. 3, 1879 in Marion County, Kansas. Here she spent her early childhood.

Later the family moved to Buhler, Kan. Here, upon her confession of faith in Christ, she was baptized on April 22, 1902 and received into the membership of the Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1908 she was united in marriage to Peter Epp of Shattuck, Okla. With this union she accepted the responsibility of motherhood to 12 of father's motherless children. This union was blessed with six children.

They established their home on a farm near Homestead, Okla. As pioneers in a new community, they met with many privations and hardships. With the exception of a short period when the family moved to Louisiana, this was her home.

On July 31, 1946 her husband, our father, preceded her in death. In 1947 when the farm was sold, she moved to Fairview. Because of failing health mother lived in the Fairview Fellowship Home the past year. Here she quietly passed away on Dec. 8, reaching the age of 83 years, four months and five days.

She leaves to mourn her passing four daughters, Mrs. Helen White of Jefferson, Oregon, Mrs. Ruth Warkentin of Fairview, Mrs. Elsie Stewart of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Paulene Smart of Fairview; two sons, Jakob of Fairview and David of Abilene, Texas; eight stepchildren, Margurite [sic Margaret/Margaretha] Schoger of Anderson, Ind., Esther Ewald of Cleveland, Ohio, Lydia Hembel of Fredonia , Kan., Anna Classen of Fairview, Martha Ruhl of Benton Harbor, Mich., John of Perryton, Texas, A. W. of Fairview and Fred of Augusta, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Agnes [Aganetha] Haak, Hillsboro, Kan.; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one aunt, Mrs. P. W. Funk of Goessel, Kan.

The funeral was held at the Fairview M. B. Church Dec. 12, 1962.
