Peter J. Epp

Peter J. Epp of Yarrow, B.C. passed away Feb. 11 . He was born Mar. 28, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Epp in Rosenbach, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1926, moving to Yarrow Feb. 28, 1928. He helped his father on the farm. He accepted the Lord at 14. At 15 he contracted measles, which affected his heart. He attended Bible school for 4 years. He was baptized June 30, 1940 and joined the MB church. His great delight was to learn to play the coronet. He blessed many people with his gospel songs and witnessed on the trumpet wherever he went. He taught many young boys to play and had a church band. During World War II he served 3 years in alternative service in Radium Hot Springs, B.C., the B.C. Cement Plant and Blubber Bay. In 1947 he married Hilda Klassen. For many years he was involved in a Sunday school outreach at Barrowtown, driving a church bus. The last 23 years of his working life he spent in a chicken hatchery. He suffered a heart attack in February, 1979, but recovered. He retired in March, 1988. He suffered strokes in May, 1988 and on July 27, 1989. He is remembered as a person who was never ashamed of the gospel, glorifying God and sharing Christ in word or on the trumpet. He is mourned by his wife; sons Wilfred of Kamloops, Elmer and Alvin of Abbotsford, B.C., and Peter and Bob of Yarrow; daughter Lorraine of Abbotsford; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and 3 sisters. The funeral was Feb. 15 in Yarrow MB Church, with Ron Braun and A.L. Klassen ministering
