KORNELIUS K. EPP

Kornelius K. Epp was born December 18, 1879 in the village of Gruenfeld, South Russia. His parents were Kornelius Epp and Helene Epp, nee Hiebert. He lost his father in his early youth, but several years later his mother married again, to Isaac Wiebe. Brother Epp was a farmer and cabinet maker by trade.

On June 5, 1901 he married Anna van Kampen with whom he was able to share 66 years and four months of life together. The Lord blessed their union with 11 children, seven daughters and four sons. One daughter died in infancy and one son-in-law, Peter Braun, died in 1948. During World War I he spent three years in the Medical Corps.

In 1923 they immigrated from Russia and moved to the Herbert, Sask. area. In 1925 they moved too the Sykes Farm on which they lived for 19 years. Since 1943 they had resided in Swift Current.

By God's grace Mr. Epp realized his lost condition and received forgiveness of sins and peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. He was baptized upon his confession of faith and received as a member into the Mennonite Brethren Church, in which he remained a faithful member until his death. He took an active part in church activities and loved to sing the hymns of praise.

After a long life of good health, he took ill and for the past few years had been in failing health. He went to be with the Lord October 8 after reaching the ripe age of 87 years.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, six daughters, four sons-in-law grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, two sisters and one half-brother.
