MRS. HELENA EPP
Helena Dick Epp, daughter of John F. and Helena Peters Dick, was born on Dec. 22, 1899 at Henderson, Neb. She received her elementary education in the Henderson and Langham, Sask. schools.
She was baptized on Aug. 17, 1917, by Rev. Jacob Wall at Lustre, Mont. and became a member of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church.
On Jan. 15, 1919, father and mother were married at Wolf Point, Mont. Moving to Henderson after the wedding, she transferred her membership from the Lustre Mennonite Church to the Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Henderson. Later mother and father transferred their membership to the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson where she retained her membership until the time of her departure.
Mother and father were privileged to share their lives for nearly 49 years, until father passed away on Dec. 21, 1967.
Mother was keenly interested in the work of the church and conference, keeping herself informed by reading its papers and periodicals. She taught Sunday school for a number of years as well as sewing for relief and making Christmas bundles. She loved to sing and encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue musical activities.
Mother enjoyed good health until about a year ago when she became aware of some respiratory problems. She passed away suddenly on Mother's Day, May 14, attaining the age of 72.
She leaves three children and their companions; Bertha and Elmer Friesen, Edwin and Cleola Epp, and Esther and Dennis D. Epp, all of Henderson; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; five brothers, John of San Jose, Calif., Henry of Hampton, Neb., George of Normal, Ill., Bill of Lincoln, Neb., Gus of Moline, Ill.; one sister Bertha, Mrs. John Quiring of Hampton, Neb.; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
Preceding her in death were her husband, one sister and one grandson.
