text of obituary:
HEINRICH D. ENSZ
Heinrich D. Ensz, son of Derk and Maria Ensz, was born at Marion, S. D., on March 28, 1889. He came to Canada on March 28, 1889, and resided at Morse, Sask., for many years.
In 1894 his father died, and four months later his mother passed away. He was baptized upon his confession of faith on July 8, 1906, and received into the membership of the Bethesda church at Morse.
On Dec. 15, 1915, he was united in marriage with Helena Quiring, with whom he shared joys and sorrows for 31 years and five days. To this union four children were born, three girls and one boy, of whom one daughter preceded him in death at the age of four years and 11 months.
He moved to Morse in 1917 and worked in the lumber yard and did carpenter work. In 1918 it was necessary for him to go to Rochester, Minn., for an operation. He had suffered with eczema and psoriasis since 1918. In 1945 he consulted a Regina doctor because of continued poor health, and in January, 1946, he went to Calgary, Alberta, to take treatments for tumors. His condition improved only temporarily, and in the fall of 1946 he fell and fractured his shoulder. He was confined to his bed from October until the day of his death. He passed away, after severe suffering, on Dec. 24, 1946, at 3:50 p. m.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; three children, Mrs. Herm. (Esther) Barkman of Steinbach, Leonard of Alberta, and Laura at home; two brothers, and one sister, John of Marion, S. D., Abe of Oklahoma, and Mary, Mrs. F. Reimer, of Steinbach; and a host of friends. We mourn not as those who have no hope, for we hope to meet him in heaven above.
Funeral services took place at the Morse Lutheran church. Rev. Isaac H. Wiens gave the message in German and English. A solo was sung by Miss Elva Toevs. Pallbearers were H. B. Harder, P. J. Sawatzky, Isaac Doerksen, Ernest Toevs, Isaac Doerksen, Ernest Toevs, Isaac Wiens, and Henry Reimer. He was laid to rest on Dec. 27, 1946, in the Morse cemetery. — Mother and children.
