HARRY ENSZ

Harry Ensz was born Nov. 7, 1919, near Marion, S. D., to Diedrich and Nettie (Deckert) Ensz. He was the seventh of eight children.

He accepted the Lord at an early age at the revival tent meetings. He was a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church in Marion.

In 1944, he married Naomi Becker. They farmed in the Marion area until 1960, when they moved to Freeman. while in Freeman he worked for John Deere, Freeman Co-op Oil and for the City of Freeman at the recycling plant. He also worked for various farmers preparing fields for planting and helping with the harvest. His greatest loves were to be on a John Deere tractor and a Gold Wing motorcycle. He had a special way with people, leaving many friends wherever he went.

In 1998, he had a mild heart attack, at which time he rededicated himself to the Lord. In November 2000, he had surgery for cancer, but he died from a heart attack on March 10,2001, at age 81.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi; three children, Deanne Yugovich and her husband, Mike, of Colorado; Jeffrey and his wife, Judy, of Oklahoma; sue Schmidt and her husband, Rick, of Marion; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Becker of Marion; and a brother, Alvin, of Doniphan, Mo.

The memorial service was held at Bethesda Mennonite Church. Burial was at Schartner Mennonite Cemetery.
