JOHN A. ENS

John A. Ens was born to Mr. and Mrs. Abram Ens on June 1, 1890 in Blumenfeld, Russia. Here he received Christ as his personal Saviour, was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1918 he married Susanna Paetkau who passed away three years later. On May 26, 1922 Maria Schellenberg became his second wife. Four children were born to them. In 1923 they emigrated to Canada and settled on a farm in Hague, Sask. In 1939 they bought a farm in Waldheim, Sask.

He was an active member in the church, in committees, Sunday school and assisting in proclaiming God's word.

In 1947 his wife passed away after a lengthy illness. Two years later he married Annie Klassen (nee Warkentin), a widow with three daughters.

In September 1971 he suffered several strokes. After a brief stay in the hospital he and his wife became residents of Tabor Manor, St, Catharines. On Easter morning, March 30, his heavenly Father took him home.

He leaves to mourn, his wife Annie; a son Henry and his wife Sally; three daughters, Adeline (Mrs, Jack) Abrahams, Erna (Mrs. Dan) Krause, Elsie (Mrs. Dave) Thiessen, all of St. Catharines; three step-daughters, Mary (Mrs. Henry) Siebert, Alta., Erna (Mrs. John P .) Warkentin, Sask., Martha (Mrs. John) Warkentin, B.C.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held in the Grantham MB Church, St. Catharines, Tuesday, April 1. Rev, Aaron Schmidt officiated in church and Rev, Peter Dick at the cemetery.
