Mrs. Nicholas F. Enns

Mrs. Nicholas F. Enns nee Martha Bartels, died suddenly of heart failure at Ft. Pierce, Florida, on April 20, 1925.

Martha Bartels was born Sept. 20, 1888, being the fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bartels of Inman, Kansas. Martha was christened in infancy in accordance with the Evangelical faith. At the age of thirteen she was confirmed, and continued a constant and faithful worker in that Church until October 1924, at which time she affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Martha Bartels attended the Inman schools and at the age of thirteen entered McPherson College, where she finished the Normal Course in four years. After that Martha attended Kansas University at Lawrence, Kansas, and was graduated with honors, receiving the A. B. degree. Later she attend [sic] the Kansas State College, taking up special courses. Martha taught in schools at Inman, Buhler, and also Herrington, Kansas.

Martha Bartels was married to Nicholas F. Enns of Inman, Kansas, at Kansas City, Mo., at the home of his brother, H. T. Enns, by the Reverend Doctor Bard of the Lutheran Evanglical Church. Martha gave birth to her only child, Kathryn Elisabeth, on March 20, 1918.

The living relatives of Martha are her husband, N. F. Enns, daughter Kathryn Elizabeth, mother Mrs. Herman Bartels, sisters Mrs. A. N. Blake, Miss Ida Bartels, Miss Mina Bartels, Mrs. E. H. Achilles of Inman, and Mrs. J. V. Harms of Hillsboro, and one brother, Adolph Bartels of Inman.
