JOHN AND CATHERINE ENNS

(Mrs.) Catherine Enns, daughter of the late John and Susanna Suderman, passed on to be with her Lord on March 19, 1976, in Winnipeg. She was born on January 28, 1900 at Neuhoffnung, near Altona, Manitoba, where she received her education. She declared her personal faith in the Lord at the age of 12, and was baptized June 13,1915. In April of 1918 she, together with her family, moved to Vanderhoof, British Columbia.

John Bernard Enns, son of the late Bernard and Justina Enns, passed on to be with his Lord on March 23. He was born July 18, 1894 in Charkow, Russia. In 1903, he, together with his family, moved to Canada , settling in Winkler, Manitoba. He declared his personal faith in the Lord at an early age, and was baptized on August 4, 1912. He received his elementary and high school education in Winkler and in 1917 his teacher's training in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He started his teaching career at Riverdale School near Herbert, Saskatchewan.

On August 24, 1919 they were married. After their marriage he continued to teach at Riverdale School for another year. He later taught in various school districts in Southern Manitoba, where they made many friends. John and Catherine were always highly respected and loved by his pupils. Some have corresponded with them until this time. Their great love for children was reflected by their prayer and support of childrens missions. In June, 1939, they settled on a farm at Elm Creek, Manitoba. They were highly respected for their Christian testimony in the community and John served on the School Board for many years.

After most of the children grew up and left home, he taught school for nine more years, after which he retired in Winnipeg, in July, 1965. They were blessed with nine children, toward whom they showed much love and affection and had the joy of seeing each one come to know the Lord. Later, all were a real source of enrichment in their lives.

They leave to mourn four daughters and their husbands: Mildred and Bob Deacon of Eriksdale, Manitoba; Alma and Charles Sauer of Lawrence, Kansas; Catherine and Barry Herman of Los Angeles, California; Helen and Rudy Schmidt of Elm Creek, Manitoba and five sons and their wives; John and Mary Enns of Elm Creek, Manitoba; Milton and Viola Enns of Vancouver, British Columbia; Ira and Eleanor Enns of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Dr. Harold and Jean Enns of Los Angeles, California and Theodore and Sharon Enns of Swan River, Manitoba; also, 29 grandchildren and six great-grand children and many relatives and friends. Catherine also leaves to mourn four sisters: Miss Susan Suderman, Miss Margaret Suderman, (Mrs.) Anna Labun and (Mrs.) Dora Enns; and one brother, Abram. John also leaves to mourn three sisters: (Mrs.) Helen Buller, (Mrs.) Anna Rempel and (Mrs.) Mary Rempel.
