SARA C. ENNS
Sara C. Enns was born near Inman, Kan. to Peter and Katharina Penner Balzer on April 21, 1887 and passed from this life on May 21, 1967. She reached the age of 80 years and one month.
She was united in holy matrimony to Dietrich H. Enns on Jan. 22, 1903, at Lehigh, Kan. In 1904, our parents homesteaded on a farm near Hooker, Okla. This marriage lasted over 55 years and was blessed with 14 children, seven sons and seven daughters. One son, Alvin, died at the age of two as a result of an accident.
Mother together with our father was saved on Aug. 22, 1909 and on Oct. 17 of that same year was baptized by Abraham Cornelson and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church of Hooker, Okla. On May 12, 1913, the church recognized the call of God in our father's life and voted him to serve as a lay minister. Four years later he was ordained to the ministry.
In 1934, they moved to Orland, Calif. where they farmed and father shared the ministry of the church. Ten years later they retired in Reedley, Calif.
Mother served the Lord in a quiet, sincere and cheerful manner. She loved God's people and was a liberal contributor to the Lord's work.
The Lord called her to himself quite suddenly after only one day of hospitalization. Our father preceded her in death by 10 years.
She leaves to mourn her departure, 13 children: Bertha, Mrs. Fred Ireland, Reedley, Calif.; Olga, Mrs. Frank R. Wall, Reedley; Herman Enns, Orland, Calif.; Dick Enns, Orland; Sara, Mrs. Elmo Warkentin, Fresno, Calif.; Mary, Mrs. Albert Riffel, Orland, Calif.; Katie, Mrs. Frank Ewert, Hamilton City, Calif.; Alfred Enns, Albany, Ore.; Orlando Enns, Castra Valley [sic Castro Valley], Calif.; Walton Enns, Concord, Calif.; Adina, Mrs. Bob Mumford, Carmel, Calif.; Rosella, Mrs. Verling Isgrigg, Dinuba, Calif.; Victor Enns, Shafter, Calif.
There are 39 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, six sons-in-law, six daughters-in-law, one brother-in-law.
We sorrow, but not without hope. Our parents are with the Lord, and we will meet again. — The Family.
