— Mrs. Henry J. Enns, 83, died Monday at the Salem hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services are announced for Friday at 2 p. m. in the Johannestal Mennonite church. Among the surviving children is a daughter, Mrs. Walter Royer of Newton. Other survivors include another daughter, three sons, a brother John Brandt of Hillsboro, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

MRS. HENRY J. ENNS

Mrs. Henry J. Enns (nee Maria Brandt) was born Dec. 1, 1875, the daughter of Christopher and Wilhelmina Senke [sic Soenke] Brandt, in Kronstahl, South Russia. She came to America with her parents in March, 1885.

She was baptized upon her confession of faith on May 27, 1895 by Rev. Wm. J. Ewert and became a member of the Bruderthal church. On Nov. 11, 1897 she was united in marriage to Henry J. Enns. Six children were born to this union of whom five survive her: Adolf and Jacob of Hillsboro, Frieda (Mrs. G. P. Wiens) of Beatrice, Neb., Minnie (Mrs. Walter Royer) of Newton, and Orlando of Lehigh. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one brother, John Brandt of Hillsboro.

In 1919, she transferred her church membership to the Johannesthal church of which she was a faithful member until her death.

She passed away Nov. 23, 1959 and reached the age of 84 years, less one week. Her husband passed away on March 22, 1949, one year and a few months after they had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mother worked hard all her life and there was always room for one more in her home as well as in her heart. As soon as her new farm home was completed, her parents moved in, to remain until their deaths about 12 years later. Two motherless children of her brother, William, who lived in Canada came to make their home with mother and her family for about six years. They were Karl and Elma Brandt Bartel, now of Drake, Sask. and Shafter, Calif. respectively. Other nieces and nephews came to spend the day or a year — they were all welcomed into the family circle.

Mother found time to sew for church organizations, as well as her own family. In later years she brought much happiness to the family and friends with her beautiful handiwork. Many fond memories linger of happy family gatherings that were so important to mother, and we leave her in God's care where we'll gather again as the children of one Father. — The Family.
