Three Accidental Drownings in Canada
TWO YOUTHS DROWN IN MANITOBA STREAMS ONE IN FARM DUGOUT
Winkler, Man. — Johnny Enns, nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Enns, drowned Aug. 7 while he and a younger brother were trying to catch small fish in a creek on the Enns farm. The parents, three brothers and three sisters survive.
Winnipeg, Man. — A swimming place known as Elm Grove Beach on the Red River south of here claimed the life of 14-year-old Benny Wiebe of the St. Vital community July 30. The youth slipped from a diving board and fell into about five feet of water. A rescue attempt failed due to the strong current.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Wiebe, five brothers and seven sisters.
Ernfold, Sask. — Funeral services were held at the Gnadenau M. B. Church July 25 for Wilmer Seibel, 19, who lost his life when he sent for a "dip" in a farm dugout. Unable to swim, he took a fence pole along for support, but it slipped from his grasp and he disappeared from sight. A younger brother sent after help, but it arrived too late.
