JACOB P. ENNS

Jacob Enns was born December 7, 1887 in Tiegenhagen, Molotschna in S. Russia, to Peter and Maria Enns (nee Patker). As a young man he accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour, and shortly thereafter was baptized upon his confession of faith, and accepted into the Alliance Mennonite Brethren Church in Lichtfelde.

He served in the Albrian Forestry for three years and a further three years during World War I, working with the Red Cross. The Lord spared him from many dangers.

Together with his family he immigrated to Canada in August 1924, settling in due time on a farm in LaSalle, Manitoba. In 1937 he moved to Port Rowan, Ont. and again took up farming. He joined the fellowship of other believers in the local MB church.

On December 13, 1942 he was married to Elizabeth Penner, a nurse at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg. A few years later they moved to St. Catherines. In 1957 his dear wife was called home in an auto accident.

He was united in marriage to Emma Suderman (nee Moellmann) on April 15, 1961, becoming father to her five daughters and one son. They were married for nearly thirteen years, living several years in Virgil, Ont. and since 1972 in St. Catherines.

He passed away at the age of 86 years, and leaves to mourn: his wife, Emma; one son, John and Frances Suderman of Frankford, Ont.; five daughters, Lydia and Henry Boldt of St. Catherines; Anne and John Andres of Niagara-on-the-Lake; Frieda and Abe Andres of Livonia, Michigan; Betty and Wilbur Dick, and Emily and Elmer Neufeld, all of Niagara-on-the-Lake; 23 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two brothers, two sisters and many relatives and friends.
