Our dear Father, Isaac Enns, was born in Marienpol [sic Mariupol], South-Russia on March 24, 1847. He was reared in Chortitz, old Colony. His father, who was a school teacher, provided hm with a good education, which was of great aid to him in serving his Master and fellowman. In his mature years he was baptized upon the confession of his faith and accepted as a member in the Mennonite church. For a number of years he was active as instructor in a Religious School. He also served very faithfully in the capacity of Church song leader and Sunday School teacher during his long span of life.

For his temporal profession he learned the cabinet makers trade and carpentry, which was of great aid to him and others in the pioneer years. Many buildings erected by him still stand to-day as a silent memorial to him.

On Sept. 17, 1872 he was united in marriage with Helena Warkentin. To this union 3 children were born, of whom 2 died in infancy. One son Cornelius is still living. After 5 years and eleven months they were separated through the death of his dear wife, which caused him deep sorrow.

He came to America in 1875 and was again united in marriage to Anna Reimer on Oct. 3, 1879 which union was blessed with 13 children of whom 8 have passed on before him. After 48 years and 7 months of happy married life our dear mother was called to her heavenly reward.

The last 5 years and six months he made his home with his son Jake and wife, at whose hands he received the tenderest care and love, which he appreciated sincerely.

In his earthly pilgrimage he has lived in many different places and wherever it was possible he joined with the church in the locality and helped to the best of his ability to further the Kingdom of God. At the time of his decease he was a member of the Burrton Mennonite Church.

Physically he was a strong and healthy man with the exception that in his best years he dislocated his right hip, which hindered him in his walking.

On Saturday Oct. 13, he suffered from a weakening of the heart from which he soon recovered, but on the 17th he was stricken for the second time. Since his heart was weakened and other complications set in, he peacefully passed away at 3:30 A. M. on Oct. 19, 1934, happy to be called to his heavenly reward.

He attained the age of 87 years, 6 months and 26 days. We are thankful to our Heavenly Father for Christian parents, who have been a living example to us and whose footsteps we need not fear to follow, for we hope to meet them again.

There remain to mourn his departure 3 sons, Cornelius of Moundridge, Jake and Abe of Burrton; Mrs. Helena Schmidt, Goessel; Mrs. Elizabeth Neufeldt of Inman; Mrs. Anna Androes of Newton. 3 daughter-in-law, three sons-in-law, 25 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

They sing of victory in the realm of the righteous.

Funeral Services.

The funeral services took place on Sunday afternoon of October 21. After a brief service at the home of the deceased in Burrton, the funeral cortege proceeded to the Hoffnungsau church where the services were conducted. Participants were Rev. H. P. Krehbiel, pastor of the Burrton Mennonite church, Rev. A. J. Dyck, pastor of the Hoffnungsau church, Rev. Peter Buller, Rev. D. D. Unruh and Rev. Hay. Interment was made in the nearby cemetery of the Hoffnungsau church.
