HELEN ENNS

Helen Enns was born on October 6, 1889 in Tiegenhagen, South Russia, to John and Agatha (nee Kroeker) Konrad. Here she spent her childhood and received schooling. At the age of 15 she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour, and in June 1904 was baptized by Rev. David Schellenberg and accepted into the Rueckenau Mennonite Brethren Church. As a young devoted Christian she became very active in teaching Sunday school and in choir work in addition to sharing the heavy household duties in her home.

In 1912 she married Abram Peter Enns. As a devoted wife and mother she shared the joys, also the severe hardships during the first World War, the Revolution and the Great Famine. But the couple never ceased to trust in God. In 1924, with many others the Ennses immigrated to Canada, and with their seven children settled on a farm near LaSalle, Man.

During the depression her health some- times failed, but she always rallied. Her main concern was her family's spiritual and physical welfare. In 1956 they retired and moved to Winnipeg, where they enjoyed the fellow- ship of the Elmwood Church. In 1962 they celebrated their fiftieth anniversary.

On December 12 she passed away peacefully to be with the Lord. Her constant prayer was "Please Lord, protect, keep and save my children." She was predeceased by her husband in March 1970 and one daughter, and is survived by two daughters, six sons, and their families, 38 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two sisters.
