ELIZABETH ENNS

Elizabeth Enns of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Aug. 31. She was born May 15, 1901 to Abram A. and Sara h Harder in Molotschna, southern Russia. On July 15, 1928 she married widower Abram J. Enns, becoming a mother to his 3 children. They lived on a farm in Krassikovo, NeuSamara. They fled in 1929, reaching Canada in 1930. She was an ingenious seamstress and cook, providing for her family in the Depression. They lived in various places in Saskatchewan. They moved to a suite in Sardis, B.C. In 1939 they bought their first home in Canada, a log house near Mission, B.C. In 1946 they built a new house. She had received the Lord in her youth. On Aug. 23, 1942 she was baptized with her husband and daughter Ann by C.C. Peters and joined North Abbotsford (now Clearbrook) MB Church. When Matsqui MB Church was organized in 1945, they joined it. In 1960 they retired to Clearbrook, joining Clearbrook MB Church. They enjoyed gardening, travelling, visiting and entertaining. In 1983 they moved to Sherwood Home. Abram died 4 months later. She was lonely, but her faith in Jesus and the scriptures and hymns she had memorized encouraged her. She spoke much of Jesus and desired to be united with him. She prayed much for her family. Predeceased by her husband, an infant son in Germany in 1929, an infant daughter in 1944, son Peter in 1985 and 1 grandson, she is mourned by her children Ann Peters, Kay Borstel, Abe, Gertrude Koop, Nettie Pankratz, Erna Quiring, Neil and Arnold; 29 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. The funeral was Sept. 5 in Clearbrook MB Church, with John E. Klassen ministering.
