Cornelius C. Enns was born December 16, 1874 the son of Isaac and Helena Warkentine Enns, in the village of Chortitz, Old Colony, Russia. He came to America with his parents as a child and there lived with them at different places.

As a young man of 30 he accepted Christ and was baptized by Elder Dietrich Gaeddert and accepted as a member of the Hoffnungsau church on October 27, 1895.

On October 26, 1900, he was united in marriage with Helena Toevs. In this union they shared life's sorows [sic] and joys for nearly 20 years. Our mother preceded him in death on June 6, 1920. For the greater part of their married life they lived on a farm seven miles east of Buhler. To this union nine children were born, six daughters and three sons, who are all living.

He enjoyed fair health until about two years ago, when he began to complain of weakness. Doctor's aid was sought, but he grew weaker, till on May 15 he was taken to the Bethesda hospital at Goessel. But the disease was of such a nature that only relief was possible. He had already set his house in order and confided in Christ his Savior before he left home. He passed on to be with Christ on June 13, at the age of 68 years, five months and 27 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure six daughters, Marie of Hutchinson, Elma of Wichita, Mrs. Helen Ediger, McPherson; Mrs. Anna Boese, Moundridge; Mrs. Hulda Penner, Sedgwick, and Mrs. Edna Hughbards of Oklahoma City. Three sons, John of Ft. Knox, Kentucky; Walter T., Burrton, and Ernest of Sedgwick; two half-brothers, J. B. Enns of Hutchinson and Abe Enns of McPherson; three half-sisters, Mrs. J. B. Schmidt, Goessel; Mrs. J. F. Neufeld, Inman, and Mrs. I. B. Androes, Newton; also 12 grandchildren.
