EVA ENGBRECHT

Eva Berg Engbrecht, daughter of Rev. Henry and Maria Deckert Berg, was born in Turner County, South Dakota on Aug 30, 1897. Her early childhood was spent on the parental farm west of Marion, S. D. At the age of 12 the family moved to Freeman where she spent the remainder of her life.

On Aug. 19, 1942, she was married to Rev. John J. Engbrecht, who died on Nov. 20, 1954.

In her early youth she accepted Jesus as her Savior, was baptized and joined the Bethany Mennonite Church of Freeman. Through the years she continued to grow in her spiritual life and desired to fulfill completely the will of God for her. Her life became a testimony of her new inner experience. Later she joined the United Missionary Church at Bridgewater where she remained a faithful member and diligent worker.

In January 1963 Eva entered the Salem Mennonite Home where she enjoyed the Christian fellowship and friendly family atmosphere.

She reached the age of 70 years, 11 months and one day. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her step-daughter, Mrs. Sarah Crum . With her passing the family circle of 12 children is completed in the beyond. Those surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Rosa Bos Myers of Glendale, Calif. and Mrs. Elizabeth Becker of Springfield, Ohio, five step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
