SUSIE L. HARDER EITZEN

Susie Leonora Harder, daughter of Jacob S. and Margaretha (Goossen) Harder was born Feb. 27, 1907, in Dale Township, Cottonwood County, Minn.

She was baptized and accepted into Immanuel Mennonite Church in Delft in her youth. She later transferred her membership to Bergfelder Mennonite Church (Gospel Mennonite Church) in Mountain Lake, where she remained a faithful member.

She married Peter Eitzen at Immanuel Mennonite Church on March 13, 1929, and they remained married for 68 years. They lived on a farm near Delft for many years. In 1940 they moved to a farm near Mountain Lake and lived there until moving into Mountain Lake in 1970. They enjoyed many winters at their mobile home in Mesa, Ariz. They entered the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake in 1990. Peter died Oct. 6, 1997.

Susie was dedicated to the activities of her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, chair of the Kin's Co-Worker's Society several times and as a member of the Ladies' Choir. She thoroughly enjoyed her neighborhood group, quilting and sewing. In her later years she was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Village.

Susie died on Jan. 28, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Village at the age of 90.

She is survived by three daughters, Beulah Kroeker and husband Ellsworth of Mountain Lake, Lois Klippenstein and husband Ervin of Fullerton, Calif., and E. Ruth Fast and husband LaVern of San Diego; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a sister, Ann Fast, of Auburn, Wash.; and a foster sister, Della Lukanen of Brooklyn Park, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, a son Gordon; a sister, Margaret Stoesz; and a brother, Jack Harder.
