DAVID EIMEN

David Eimen, son of Daniel and Barbara Zehr Eimen, was born Nov. 5, 1880, in Henry County, Iowa. He departed from this life on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1963, after an extended illness, having attained the age of 83 years and seven days.

In his early life he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and was baptized upon confession of faith and received into membership in the Mennonite Church, in which he faithfully served the Lord as long as his health would permit. During the last 23 years of his life, he lived in Iowa City where he was always in faithful attendance at the services of the Mennonite Church, leading the strength of his life and the concern of his Christian experience in the work of the church.

On Aug. 17, 1910, in La Junta, Colo., he was united in holy wedlock to Ollie B. Showalter. They shared their home for some 53 years, first in Colorado, but after some five years they returned to Iowa City.

Surviving are his widow, one son, Paul H. of Wellman; four daughters, Martha Elizabeth of Iowa City, Mrs. Roy Diener of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Ivan Stoltzfus of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Paul Miller of Aibonita, Puerto Rico; one sister, Fannie Eimen of Wayland, Iowa; one brother, Chester of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.

When his strength failed him during the time of his recent illness, he expressed the desire to return home to the Lord. This fond desire of his heart was graciously granted him, that he might depart from this life and enter into that eternal victory which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Rev. Wilbur Nachtigall, pastor of the First Mennonite Church, Iowa City, conducted the memorial service held Nov. 15, 1963 at the Wellman Mennonite Church. Interment was made in the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery.
