SAMUEL EICHER

Funeral services for Samuel Ezra Eicher, 79, of rural Albany, Ore., who died March 15 of cancer at Lebanon Community Hospital, were held Saturday at Bethany Mennonite Church with the Rev. David Groh officiating.

He was born Feb. 11, 1893 in Archbold, Ohio, where he was reared and educated. He attended Hesston College (Kansas).

He married Amanda M. Brenneman on Sept. 12, 1922 in Archbold. The couple came to Albany in 1924. She preceded him in death in 1939. He married Martha Gerig Oct. 30, 1940 in Albany. She survives.

He was owner of Eicher Feedlot and raised beef for a living.

He was a member of the Linn County Livestock Assn., active member of Bethany Mennonite Church and the Mennonite Conference of the Pacific Coast, a member of the original board of directors of the Lebanon Community Hospital, past board member of the Albany Mennonite Home for the Aged and the Kings View Hospital of Reedley, Calif. He served on the Mennonite Central Committee for several years.

In addition to his widow, survivors include two sons, C. Samuel Eicher Jr. of Albany and Duane R. Eicher of Downey, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Shirley) Gingerich of Topeka, Kan.; three brothers, Reuben B. of Wauseon, Ohio, Andrew C. of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Olen L. of Sarasota, Fla..; four sisters, Mrs. Samuel (Eva) Grieser of Archbold, Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) Nafziger of Pettisville, Ohio, Mrs. Earl (Verna) Grieser of Napoleon, Ohio, and Lawrence (Ellen) Mull of Toledo, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
