SARAH EICHELBERGER

Sarah Ann (Birky) Eichelberger, born to the late Min. and Mrs. J. H. Birky at Oberlin, Kan. on Aug. 24, 1892, died in the community hospital, Pender, Neb. on Feb. 21, 1962 at the age of 69 years, five months and 28 days.

On Oct. 23, 1961, she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she did not recover. At the age of three years she moved to Cuming County, Neb. which was her home the rest of her life. In her youth she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour, was baptized and received into the Mennonite Church at Beemer, Neb. and was a devoted Christian to the end of life.

Funeral services were held at the Beemer Mennonite Church on Sunday, Feb. 25, Pastor Sam Oswald in charge.

On March 5, 1914 she was united in marriage to Joseph Eichelberger. Together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for almost 48 years.

Left to mourn her departure are her husband, four children, Lois, Mrs. Menno Erb, Benton, Ind.; Harold, West Point, Neb.; Clifford, Glendive, Mont.; and Mrs. Rolland Oswald, Beemer, Neb.; 18 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, an infant son, her parents and two brothers.

Sadie, as she was known to her friends, was a kind and loving wife and mother, with a sincere spiritual concern for her family and church. Her place was never vacant at church when it was possible to be there. Her Christian gracious manner of living caused her to be a valued friend to all who knew her. She suffered much in her illness, bore it patiently, and peacefully passed on to the great beyond.
