REGISTERED NURSE KILLED WHEN CAR STRIKES BRIDGE
LaJunta, Colo. — The tragic news was received here Friday, April 21, that Mrs. Lola B. Schertz Egli, R. N., lost her life in a car accident near Syracuse, Kans. while returning to her home at Tribune, Kans. after a three-day visit with friends and relatives here. She was 39 years of age. According to reports, her car evidently went out of control and struck a concrete bridge railing. The body was sent to Manson, Iowa, her home community, for final services.

Services Held ln Iowa For Accident Victim
MRS. LOLA EGLI, MANSON, KILLED ON KANSAS HIGHWAY
Manson, Iowa. — Friends and relatives from Illinois, Nebraska, and Colorado attended funeral services at the Mennonite church here on April 25 for Mrs. Lola Schertz Egli, 40, who lost her life in a highway accident about 18 miles from Tribune, Kansas April 21.
Mrs. Egli, a graduate of the Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing at La Junta, Colo., was en route alone to Tribune after visiting friends at La Junta when her car apparently went out of control and hit a concrete abutment. There were no witnesses of the tragedy.
Since the death of her husband, Ted Egli, in 1945, Mrs. Egli had done nursing at the Children’s hospital, Denver, the La Junta hospital, and the Methodist hospital, Los Angeles. In January of this year she had accepted a position at the new County hospital, Tribune.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lena Schertz of Manson; six sisters, Mrs. Freda Zehr and Mrs. Ray Zehr of Manson, Mrs. Edith Egli and Miss Lillian Schertz of Denver, Mrs. M. D. Rhodes of La Junta, and Mrs. Ben Nafsinger of Washington, Ill., two brothers, Elmer of Peoria and Alvin of Canton, Ill.
The final services were in charge of Rev. Ed. Birkey, and burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
