• Henry H. Ediger, 76, long-time resident of the Buhler community, died early Saturday at his home in Buhler. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Hoffnungsau Church with Rev. Lamont Woelk officiating. Survivors include his widow, Marie, four sons, five daughters, two brothers, two sisters, and 30 grandchildren.

H. H. EDIGER

Henry H. Ediger, son of Henry E. and Helena Janzen Ediger, was born Feb. 9, 1886 on a farm in Harvey County, Kan. He spent the earlier years of his childhood there, and then with his parents moved to a farm east of Inman, Kan. He received his education at the Wolf Creek School and at the Hillsboro Bible Academy, where he studied under Rev. H. D. Penner.

On July 23, 1905 he was baptized, upon the confession of his faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, by Elder Abram Ratzlaff. He became a member of the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church and remained faithful to it until his death. He thoroughly enjoyed the responsibilities given him in the church.

On Dec. 14, 1907 he was married to Marie Schmidt in the Hoffnungsau Church by Elder Abraham Ratzlaff. Nine children were born to this union, all of whom survive. By vocation he was a farmer, so he and his bride began their married life by homesteading in Hamilton County, Kan. Drought years made it necessary for them to move back to Central Kansas, and they spent the rest of their years of farming in the Inman and Buhler communities. Since 1948, they made their home in Buhler.

His children remember with appreciation the meaningful periods of family devotions that were always a part of their home life.

On June 2, 1962 at about 2:30 a.m. he suffered a heart attack and very quickly and quietly went home to be with th Lord he loved. He had reached the age of 76 years, three months, and 24 days.

Preceding him in death were a daughter-in-law, Lee Esther, a grandson, Phillip, and one sister, Marie. Surviving are his wife of the home; four sons, Curt and wife Elsie, Henry and wife Hilda, Sam and wife Betty, and Ray and wife Lola, all of Buhler; five daughters, Linda and husband Elmer Voth of Inman, Hilda and husband William Buller of Buhler, Marie and husband Galen Widmer of Washington, Iowa, Amanda and husband Pete Bartel of Wichita, and Lavina and husband Emil Goering of Pretty Prairie; two brothers, P. H. and J. E., both of Inman; and two sisters, Helena, Mrs. Dave Goertz of Buhler, and Anna, Mrs. John Flaming of Inman; 30 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

The memorial service was held in the Inman Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church with Rev. Lamont Woelk officiating. — The Family.
