Farmer, Father Of Three Killed
Ephrata, Pa. — A 36-year-old Ephrata farmer was fatally hurt and his wife and thee [sic] children injured in a collision on Route 222 west of here the evening of Oct. 8.
Clyde Eby died at the Ephrata Community Hospital about two hours after the accident. His five-year-old daughter, Janelle, was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital with a severe head injury.
Treated at the hospital and released were Mrs. Nancy Eby, 30, the wife and mother; Clair Eby, age 7; and 18-month-old Dawn Eby. Barry S. Miller, 16, of Ephrata was the driver of the other vehicle involved and was admitted to the hospital with multiple abrasions and lacerations.
Officers reported that the sedan driven by Miller apparently corssed [sic] the center line and collided almost head-on with the oncoming pick-up truck occupied by the Eby family. The truck spun around and crashed into an embankment along the highway.
Mr. Eby was a member of the Ephrata Area Young Farmers Assn., the Cheerful Anthems Male Chorus, and the Indiantown Mennonite Church.
