19-MONTH-OLD CHILD DROWNS IN DRAINAGE DITCH AT YARROW, B. C.

Yarrow, British Columbia. — Little Michael Joseph Dyck, 19 months old, drowned in a drainage ditch near his grandparents’ home here June 1.

The little boy had been seen playing in the front yard, but when his mother, Mrs. A. C. Dyck, went to receive the mail from the postman a few minutes later her son was nowhere to be seen. After a frantic search, she found the body in three feet of water in the ditch, which runs across the front of the property. Her attempts to revive him by artificial respiration were fruitless.
