Reedley, Calif., Oct. 1. — Mrs. William Dyck, age 60 years, 3 months and 4 days, died Thursday afternoon at Halstead, Kansas, at about 1 clock. Mr. and Mrs. Dyck went to Kansas about three months ago, as Mrs. Dyck had been in failing health and it was believed that a trip to her old home would prove beneficial. Four days previous to her death Mrs. Dyck had undergone a thyroid operation.
Mr. Dyck left Halstead, Kansas, Sunday morning, with the remains and arrived Tuesday at noon in Fresno, at the Santa Fe depot, from where the body was brought to Reedley, for funeral services which will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Mennonite Church. Rev. H. J. Krehbiel and Rev. M. N. Wine, will conduct the services. The Men's Chorus, of which organization Mr. Dyck was a member for several years, will conduct the music. Mr. and Mrs. Dyck had resided in Reedley since 1912. They were married 31 years ago. She was a native of Illinois. Mrs. Dyck was a lady much beloved by her many friends in this city, where she was prominent in church work and ever ready to do her part in the community. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church and the W. C. T. U. circle of Reedley.
Besides the husband the deceased is survived by one child, a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert L. Betts, of Palo Alto. Mr. and Mrs. Betts were married in Stanford University last June and Mrs. Dyck was at that time able to attend the wedding and reception given afterwards. it was about the last function she was well enough to attend.
Besides her husband and daughter, Mrs. Dyck is survived by her aged father, David Bower, and four sisters and one brother, who are: Mrs. J. R. Pitser, of Bartlettsville, Okla., Mrs. Levi Vaniman, of Cordell, Okla., Mrs. I. J. Dickey, of Fresno, Mrs. A. L. Boyd, of Bowmont, Idaho, and Earl Bower, of McLouth, Kansas.
Saturday afternoon in Halstead, Kansas, a memorial service was held for Mrs. Dyck, at which her aged father, David Bower, who is almost 90 years of age, was present. — Reedley Exponent.
