PETER WILLIAM DYCK
Peter Dyck was born Febuary 18, 1877 in Kironstal, Ukraine and passed away June 23, 1966 at Lethbridge, Alberta, at the age of 89 years. He died strong in his faith in the Lord confident that he would see his Saviour whom he had served for many years.
As a young man he served in the Russian forestry service for four years. Later he married Elizabeth Penner and moved to Gnadenfeld, Sagradowka where he farmed and enjoyed a happy life. When the war came he served as a medical orderly for three years. Shortly after he returned home his wife passed away leaving him with five children. Later he remarried to Gertrude Boldt and moved to a farm at Alexanderwohl.
In 1926 the family came to Canada and settled at Grassy Lake where he again purchased a farm. In the Grassy Lake Church he served as minister and deacon for many years. He also enjoyed singing and sang in the church choir. At home his family knew him as a man of prayer and one who loved to gather his family around him to sing while he played the accordian.
During his last years he lived in retirement with his wife and daughter in Lethbridge. The funeral took place at Grassy Lake with D. J. Pankratz and William Thiessen ministering. A quartet sang some of his favourite songs. He is survived by his wife, seven children and their families.
