MRS. MARY I. DYCK

The daughter of Aron G. and Elizabeth Sawatzky, (Mrs.) Mary I. Dyck was born on July 11, 1892 at Andreasfeld, in southern Russia. She moved to Canada with her family in 1903, and shared a happy homelife in Aberdeen, Sask., despite the hardships of pioneer life. At the age of 11 years she accepted the Lord as her Savior, was baptized and joined the Aberdeen Mennonite Brethren Church.

On December 3, 1911 she wed Isaac L. Dyck. They lived briefly in Waldheim, Sask. , and then moved to Borden. Four children were born. In 1946 the Dycks moved to a farm in Abbotsford, B.C., where they resided until moving to nearby Clearbrook in 1959. The many joys were mingled with sorrow when her husband passed away in July, 1966. They had just moved into the Tabor Home in Clearbrook, and this remained Mrs. Dyck's home until the Lord called her home gently on February 14, 1977.

The family praises God for the spiritual heritage she left. With loving devotion and firm conviction she reminded them frequently of their commitment to Christ. On Sunday, February 13, her last words to family members who were visiting her in the hospital were, "I love you all very dearly."

She was predeceased by her husband, her son Albert, a grandson-in-law Howard Harder, and great-granddaughter Jaelynn Harder. Left to mourn are three children, Frieda (Mrs. Abe) Wiens of Clearbrook, Alma (Mrs. Paul) Wiebe of Abbotsford, and Ernie and his wife Leona, also of Abbotsford; one daughter-in-law, Louise, of Clearbrook; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry and Aron Sawatsky; two sisters, (Mrs.) Katherine Hapkin and (Mrs.) Martha Unruh; and many relatives and friends.
