Birth date: *1860 Dec 14
text of obituary:
MARIE ELIZABETH DYCK, DAUGHTER OF PETER AND JUSTINA (WIEBE) ALLERT, was born in Marienburg, West Prussia, *Dec. 14, 1860. There she was baptized upon her confession of faith by Elder Penner. In 1876 she came, with her mother and only brother, to America, locating at Beatrice, Nebr., where she united with the Mennonite Church. On Dec. 15, 1887, she was united in marriage to Henry Dyck. Nine children were born to this union, two of whom preceded their mother in death. The family came to the state of Washington in 1902, taking up a homestead near Schrag. There they lived until 1939, when the parents took up living quarters with their daughter's Julius Frantz’ family. There they lived happily among all of their children, and the entire family united with the Mennonite Church at Menno. — On Dec. 15, 1937, it was her privilege to celebrate their golden wedding with her husband in the midst of children and grandchildren. It was a day of real joy and thanksgiving, "for God had been good to them”, a common expression coming from the lips of mother Dyck.
Mother Dyck had a cheerful, helpful disposition. To render service and deeds of kindness was considered a privilege by her. A kind word, a smile, or a test so common to her, would scatter many a cloud from a burdened soul, so that it could forget pain and hardship and again think of the bright side of life. It was in following the example of Christ that enabled her to do this. She never failed to be at her place in church, unless impassible roads, sickness or the fraility [sic] of old age prevented it. On last Mothers’ Day she was at church the last time. About a week before her passing she was failing rapidly, and very quietly she passed on to be with her Savior on the morning of June 19th, just as the sun was rising in its glory. She attained an age of 79 years, 5 months, 29 days. She leaves to mourn her passing, her beloved husband with whom she journeyed happily 53 years: seven children, Mrs. William Claassen, Gerhard Dyck, Henry Dyck of Colfax; Mrs. Julius Franz, Mrs. Ed Schrag, and Frank Dyck of the home district; Mrs. Joe C. Schrag of Mae, Wash.; 23 grandchildren, one sister-in-law. and many other relatives.
