Anna Dyck was born July 22, 1882 in Friedensfeld, in the southern Ukraine, to Nicolaus and Agatha Reimer. At the age of 20 she found peace with God, was baptized by Rev. Wall and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren church. Two years later she married Johann Dyck. They had six children, two of whom died in infancy. Her husband was taken into captivity in 1937 during the purge under Stalin and died on November 16, 1942. In 1948 Mrs. Dyck and her daughter, Helen, came from Chortitza, in the Ukraine, to Germany and from thence to Paraguay, where they lived for six years. In 1954 they came to Canada, living for 11 years in Vineland, Ontario. In 1965 they purchased a home in Virgil. In early January she suffered an injury in a fall and on January 29, she passed away to be with the Lord. The funeral service was held at the Virgil Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. John G. Baerg ministering. She leaves to mourn two sons, Kolja and family in Langley, B.C., Hans and family in Russia; two daughters, Helen, in Virgil, and Anna (Mrs. Waldemar) Wall and family of R.R.4, St. Catharines; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
