Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Duerksen, 85, were held Saturday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl Church near Goessel. Rev. Aaron J. Epp officiated. Mrs. Duerksen died Oct. 15 at the Bethesda Hospital, having been a resident of the Bethesda Home in Goessel since 1960. She was born in Russia and came to the United States at the age of 12 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. C. Friesen. The family settled near Lehigh. Following her marriage to David B. Duerksen, she lived in the Hillsboro and Canton communities. He died in 1960. Surviving are sons Arnold of Plainview, Texas and Elmer of Hillsboro; three daughters, Mrs. Abe Voth of Halstead, Mrs. Herman Klassen of Kinsley, and Mrs. B. E. Trupp of rural Hillsboro; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters.
