(MRS.) KATHERINE DUECK

(Mrs.) Katherine Dueck was born to Peter and Susanna (nee Petker) Dueck on June 30, 1891 in southern Russia, where she grew up. At the age of 17 she accepted Christ as her Saviour.

In 1912 she was married to Jacob P. Dueck, and in 1921 they were both baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church. The Duecks and their children moved to Canada and settled on a farm near Coaldale, Alta. She was a faithful homemaker as well as a helper to her deacon husband. Her concern that all her children would follow and serve the Lord led to the fulfillment in her home of the promise, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

After undergoing major surgery in 1974, Mrs. Dueck and her husband retired to a senior citizens home in Clearbrook, B.C. In the fall of 1975 she again became ill and she passed away to the Lord on November 28. Her mind and her faith remained strong until the end.

At the December 2 funeral, held in the Coaldale MB Church, her son-in-law, Bernard Epp, gave a short message and testimonial to Mrs. Dueck's faith. Pastor Rudy Heidebrecht gave a message based on Titus 2:11-14.

She leaves to mourn her husband, Jacob P. Dueck; three sons, Peter, Jake, and John; five daughters, (Mrs.) Susie Epp, (Mrs.) Tina Janz, (Mrs.) Mary Poetker, Helen, and (Mrs.) Lydia Voth; 48 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers.
