The family expresses its deep gratitude to the many who prayed for them and shared in their bereavement through many expressions of love and sympathy. The following is an excerpt out of some verse found in his desk and typical of the words he often spoke: For the faith that keeps us patient, Looking at the things unseen, Knowing spring shall follow winter, And the earth again be green, For the hope of that glad meeting, Far from mortal grief and pain, We thank Thee, 0 our Father, For the blessings that remain, For the love that still is left us, For the friends who hold us dear, For the lives that yet may need us, For their guidance and their cheer, For the work that waits our doing, For the help we can bestow, For the care that watches o'er us, Wheresoe'er our steps may go, For the simple joys of living, For the sunshine and the breeze, For the beauty of the flowers, And the laden orchard trees, For the night and for the starlight, For the rainbow and the rain - Thanksgiving O our Father, For the blessings that remain.

REV. ABRAM H. DUECK

The funeral for the Rev. Abram H.Dueck of Watrous, Sask., was held at the Central (Saskatoon) Mennonite Brethren Church on February 14. He passed away February 10 at the age of 44 years. During his ministry he served a number of years under the Saskatchewan MB Mission and as pastor of several Saskatchewan churches. Currently he was also a member of the Board of Evangelism of the Canadian Conference.

His short ministry has been a blessing to many people. He had a deep burden for lost souls and a genuine concern for the welfare of the believers.

Abram H. Dueck was born to Henry and Anna (Willems) Dueck on June 30, 1923 at Langham, Sask. He accepted Christ as Saviour as a youth of 14 and in the same year was baptized and received into the membership of the EMB Church at Langham. In 1949 he married Stella Rempel and for 18 years they shared joys and sorrows and were blessed with three children: a son, David, daughter, Denise, and a chosen daughter, Ruth.

During his Bible school training he felt a call into the ministry which found an outlet for expression in DVBS Camp Work and Extension Sunday schools. His preaching ministry had its beginning when he became the assistant pastor in a mission in Nipawin, Sask. He continued in the ministry when he took up a teaching position Loreburn, Sask. In 1954 he accepted a call to the pastorate of the Lashburn (Sask.) Church and it was while he was there (in 1956) that he was ordained to the ministry. During his service at Lashburn, he also served the congregation at the mission church in the neighbouring town of Maidstone. In 1959 he moved to Blaine Lake where he served the church for five years. For the last several years he was pastor of the Mennonite Brethren Church at Watrous. His greatest joy was to see people come to salvation and release in Christ and there are many who met the Lord under his ministry. He served actively within the provincial and Canadian conferences.

He first became aware of ailing health during a vacation to Calgary and Banff last summer and was hospitalized for a brief period last August. In November he was again hospitalized and subsequent diagnosis revealed a malignant bone disease. He suffered a great deal, but he was both encouraged by others and became an encouragement to others. In his last months he had many rich spiritual experiences and he shared his strong and vibrant faith with many visitors.

He leaves to mourn his passing wife, Stella; a son, David, 17; two daughters, Denise, 10, and Ruth, 4; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dueck of Langham; a sister, Mary, of Auke Bay, Alaska; a brother, Henry, of Calgary and many friends and relatives.
