MRS. KATARINA DUECK


(Mrs.) Katarina Dueck of Boissevain, Man. passed away on February 20. She was born on March 5, 1884 to Peter and Maria (Pauls) Dyck in Schoenberg, Russia. At the age of 16 she accepted Christ as her Saviour through Rev. Jacob Reimer, was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. She married Henry B. Dueck, a widower with seven children, and to them were born a son and a daughter. In 1926 the family came to Manitoba, where they farmed in Manitou, then Desford, then Minto for 15 years. They moved to Boissevain, and then retired to the town of Boissevain in 1957. Her husband passed away in 1968. She moved to Donwood Manor in Winnipeg in 1974. Her last written words were, "I can only praise and thank God; he is good! He honours his Word!" She is survived by all nine children: Henry and Sarah, and Annie, of Winnipeg, Bernhard and Helen, Abe and Katie of Killarney, Man ., Peter and Annie, Mary and Jake Martens, Betty and Aron Peters, Katie and Nick Peters, all of Boissevain, and John and Lois of Brandon ; 39 grandchildren and 50 great- grandchildren . The funeral was on February 23 at the Boissevain MB Church with pastors Abe Froese and David Dyck officiating.
