WILLIAM C. DRIEDIGER

William C. Driediger of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Nov. 7. He was born Sept. 21, 1911 to Cornelius and Anna Driediger near Omsk, Siberia. When he was 15, the family immigrated to Manitoba. He accepted the Lord in his youth and attended Winkler Bible SchooL In summer, 1941 he was baptized and joined Griswold (Man.) MB Church. That same summer he married Susie Dyck of Winkler, Man. After farming at Oak Lake, Man. for several years, they moved to East Chilliwack, B.C. In 1951 they sold their farm, moved to Chilliwack and started a business which later became known as Garden Chapel Funeral Home. In this profession he felt God was able to use him to serve the community with love and compassion. He retired in 1970 and spent the last 20 years in various church activities, travelling and visiting friends and relatives. In September, 1990 he realized his lifelong dream of returning to Russia, visiting his childhood home, his sisters' grave sites and the well his father had dug, which is still serving the village. He is mourned by his wife; daughters Alvera Dyck of Oshawa, Ont., Dorothy Friesen of Burnaby, B.C. and Lynda Mann of Albany, OR; sons Wil of Kelowna, B.C., Erv and Ed of Abbotsford, B.C. and Rob of Cortez Island, B.C.; 14 grandchildren; 1 brother and 1 sister. The funeral was Nov. 10 in Bakerview MB Church, Clearbrook, with Henry Thiessen and Jake Quiring ministering.
