• Funeral services for Martin W. Doerksen, 78, were held Saturday afternoon at the Inman Mennonite Church, with Rev. Ben Friesen officiating. Mr. Doerksen died Oct. 16 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge after an extended illness. He was a retired farmer and a lifelong resident of the Inman community. Survivors include his widow, the former Anna Friesen; three sons, Menno, manager of Camp Mennoscah at Murdock, and Henry and Marvin of Inman; two daughters, Mrs. Carl Regier of Newton and Mrs. Elmer W. Goering of Pretty Prairie; one brother, one sister, and 15 grandchildren.

MARTIN W. DOERKSEN

Martin W. Doerksen was born on Feb. 18, 1891 to Jacob M. and Suzanna Wiens Doerksen on a farm Near Inman, kan. He died on Oct. 16, 1969 at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge, at the age of 78 years.

He received his education at the Wolf Creek School west of Inman. He was baptized on July 10, 1910 by Rev. Heinrich Toews and received into the fellowship of the Bethel Church. On Nov. 9, 1913 he transferred his membership to the Hoffnungsau Church, and on May 6, 1921 he became a charter member of the Inman Mennonite Church where he remained a faithful member until his death.

On Nov. 11, 1913 he was married to Anna Friesen by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff. The Lord blessed the 55 years and 11 months they shared together. They paused often to praise God for His divine guidance, but in a special way, with friends and family they stopped and gave praise to God for His constant, abiding hand for their married life n 1938 on their 25th wedding anniversary and again in 1963 at their 50th wedding anniversary. To this union were born five children. They lived on a farm west of Inman until the fall of 1958 when they moved to Inman.

He was a devoted husband and father, and was concerned about the spiritual welfare of his children and grandchildren. Father rarely missed a Sunday in the Lord's house and was always on time. time was very important to him and he realized when his time on earth was drawing to a close and was ready to go and meet his Lord.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Anna; two daughters, Katherine and husband Carl Regier, and Marie and husband Elmer Goering; three sons, Henry and wife Martha, Menno and wife Mary Ann, Marvin and wife Arlene; 13 granddaughters, two grandsons, and three grandson-laws; one brother, Jake W. Doerksen, and one sister, Marie Neufeld. Preceding him in death were two brothers and one sister.
