MRS. HEINRICH H. DIRKSEN
Mrs. Heinrich H Dirksen was born Feb 20, 1863, in Annafeld, Crimea, Russia. She was the daughter of Peter and Anna Friesen Neufeld. She died March 28 at Goessel, Kans., reaching the ripe old age of 87 years, one month and six days.
She was baptized in 1883 by Elder Wilhelm Voth and joined the Church at Sagradoka. The parents came to America in 1887 when her brothers became of draft age, and settled in Kansas.
Her schooling was limited and due to financial difficulties, she began at an early age to work in various homes. She was strong and never complained of tiredness.
She was united in holy matrimony to Heinrich Dirksen on June 20, 1895. This union was blessed with four children.
From 1916 to 1922 she took care of grandmother Elizabeth Dirksen. Her married life ended by sudden death of our father on Aug 3, 1941.
Mother's sickness was hardening of the arteries. She had suffered intensely at intervals since 1938. In her last two months she had come to be an invalid. For weeks she lived practically without food. She enjoyed having Clara read to her and also the various groups that came to sing.
She leaves to mourn her departure, Clara of the home, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. (Martha) Nikkel of Canton, Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Dirksen of Canton, Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Dirksen of Moundridge, nine grandchildren and two brothers, Jacob H. and Bernard M. Neufeld of Inman.
