Retired Pastor Dies In Oregon at Age 61

Albany, Ore. — Rev. Clyde H. Dirks, whose service in the Christian ministry spanned 40 years, died here on Feb. 5 at the age of 61.

The funeral was conducted on Feb. 7 at the Fisher Mortuary. Rev. Allen Tschiegg, pastor of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church at Salem, officiated and was assisted by Rev. David W. Mann of the Albany Mennonite Church.

Rev. Dirks had served as pastor of the Grace Mennonite Church here from 1962 until September of last year, when he resigned because of ill health. He was ordained to the ministry on Aug. 12, 1928 by Rev. P. R. Aeschliman.

Other General Conference churches served by Rev. Dirks during his ministry were those at Volt and Lustre, Mont., Bethel of Fortuna, Mo., First Mennonite of Hutchinson, Kan., and the Alberta Community Church of Portland. In addition to his pastorates, he engaged in mission and evangelistic work and conducted Bible conferences.
