&bull; Relatives from Newton attended funeral services at the Bergthal Mennonite Church near Pawnee Rock last Saturday forenoon for Mrs. Bertha Dirks, 77, who died Dec. 18 at Larned. A native of Pawnee County, Mrs. Dirks lived in the Pawnee Rock community most of her life. She was married there in 1913 to Peter S. Dirks, and moved to Larned after his death in 1966. Surviving are sons James of Newton and Waldo of Peoria, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Hans Regier of Columbia, Mo. and Sister Lena Mae Smith of Newton; brothers Elrich, Leo and Ben Smith, all of Pawnee Rock; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
