— Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Dirks, 78, for many years a resident of the Moundridge community, were held Monday at the West Zion Mennonite Church there. Rev. Harris Waltner officiating. For the past four years Mrs. Dirks had lived at the home for aged at Inman. She died at the Mercy Hospital in Moundridge on April 17 after being a patient there for about a week. Her husband, Jacob W. Dirks, died in 1949. Survivors include two sisters living at Springfield, Mo.

CHRISTINE G. DIRKS
Christine Morlock Dirks, daughter of Bernhardt and Regeina Morlock, was born on Jan. 22, 1881, in Jackson, Mich. In childhood she moved with her parents to a farm near Brown Springs, Mo. there she was confirmed in the St. John Lutheran Church.
On August 21, 1916, she was united in marriage to Jacob W. Dirks in Springfield, Mo. After marriage she moved with her husband to Moundridge, Kansas where they lived together until his death on May 9, 1949. In Moundridge she became a member of the West Zion Mennonite Church in 1917.
Although she had no children of her own, she derived much joy in helping care for her nephews and nieces.
During the last four years she lived in the home for the aged at Inman, Kansas. Her earthly life came to a close on Friday, April 17, in the Mercy Hospital, Moundridge, where she spent the last week. She reached the age of 78 years, three months and 26 days.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Newmann and Mrs. Caroline Kelly of Springfield, Mo.; one sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held in the West Zion Mennonite Church on Monday, April 20, with Rev. Harris Waltner officiating.
