A DOUBLE FUNERAL

S. D. and Fanny Diller

The double funeral of Samuel D. Diller and his sister Fanny was largely attended Monday afternoon Mar. 21. Mr. Diller passed away about 1.30 Saturday morning and his sister Fanny about 24 hours later.

The place and hour for the former's funeral had already been set. Because of the immediate relationship and since Fanny left no other relatives it was deemed proper to have both funerals at the same place and at the same hour.

The funeral services were in charge of Rev. Glock, Pastor of the Missionary Church, of Pandora O. At the request of Mr. Diller, Rev. Neuenschwander, pastor of the Ebenezer church gave a fitting message in the German language.

Samuel D. Diller, son of John and Elizabeth Diller, was born Oct. 26, 1862, in the old Diller homestead in Riley township. Departed this life in the home of his birth on March 19, 1927, age sixty-four years, four months and twenty-three days. Mr. Diller was united in marriage to Anna Amstutz, formerly of Berne, Ind., on Sept. 8, 1895. To this union nine children were born, all of which survive. On last Wednesday, after a pleasant day on the farm, he ate a hearty supper, read a while in the evening, retiring about 8:30 in seemingly good health. Just a few moments later the fatal attack came which proved to be his last and the end came very suddenly and peacefully Saturday morning at 1:30 o'clock.

Miss Fannie Diller was born on June 8, 1848, in the old Diller homestead, and passed on to be with the Lord, march 20, 1927, age seventy-eight years, nine months and twelve days. She, too, was a true servant and follower of the Lord, having been saved about forty-three years ago. She has followed the Lord faithfully ever since. brief services were first held in the home, Rev. J. F. Steiner reading an appropriate scripture passage and offering prayer. — Pandora Times.
