Abraham Dieck

Abraham Dieck was born in West Prussia, Germany, November 6, 1844. His parents were Cornelius and Anna (Janzen) Dieck.

At the age of 11 years his parents died, about seven months apart. After this bereavement he made his home with an uncle, Peter Janzen, near Danzig. He chose a business career in general merchandise. In 1881 he emigrated to America, landing here May 17th. In the fall of 1882 he returned to Germany and was married to Catherine Harder, April 3, 1883. In May they came to Kansas, and on August 2nd to the farm northeast of Whitewater which has since been their home. The union was blessed with one son, Jacob, and one daughter, Anna, who was called from this life at the age of 20.

In March of 1925 Mrs. Dieck passed away. Surviving is the son, Jacob, with his wife and six children.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Emmaus Church and interment made in the Emmus cemetery, Whitewater.
