FORMER RESIDENT OF INMAN COMMUNITY DIES IN OKLAHOMA

Hutchinson, Kan. — Relatives here received word that Klaas Dick, 78, former resident of the Inman community, died at his home in Turpin, Okla. Funeral services were held at Turpin on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

A retired farmer, Mr. Dick had resided in the Turpin community for some years. He leaves his wife, Anna; one son and seven daughters; one brother, Jake of Turpin; one sister, Mrs. Anna Thiessen of Hutchinson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

KLAAS DICK

Klaas Dick, our beloved husband and father, son of Klaas and Elizabeth (Wiebe) Dick, was born June 7, 1879, in McPherson County, Kansas where he attended elementary school. He realized his lost condition in his early youth and accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He remained a faithful member in the Mennonite Church until his death.

On Sept. 8, 1901, he was united in marriage with Anna Wiens with whom he shared joys and sorrow for 56 years and eight months.

In 1903 they moved to Beaver County, Okla. near Turpin where they homesteaded and lived on the same place all these years. Father loved the farm and worked hard to bring up his family in a Christian atmosphere. In 1947, after losing his eyesight, he submitted to surgery and regained partial eyesight for which he was very thankful. Since May 1948 he had been confined to the wheelchair, but never a sign of impatience or discontent did he show.

He took great interest in his family and especially in his grandchildren, who so often would come to see him and sing for him. this he greatly enjoyed.

About four weeks ago he became seriously ill and was confined to his bed. On Jan. 2 he took a decided turn for the worse and on Jan.4 at 2:30 p. m. he went to meet his Maker.

He reached the age of 78 years. He reached the age of 78 years, six months and 27 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Anna; one son and seven daughters, N. W. Dick, Mrs. Henry Becker, Mrs. Arnold Janzen, Mrs. Johnny Dirks, Mrs. Paul Ediger, Mrs. Elmer Hinz, all of the Turpin community, Mrs. C. J. Dyck and Mrs. Albert Hiebert of Wichita, Kansas; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Jake Dick, Turpin; one sister, Mrs. Anna D. Thiessen, Hutchinson, Kan. One grandson preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Jan. 7, with Rev. Levi Koehn and Rev. John Lehnert officiating.
