text of obituary:
MRS. MARIA HIEBERT DICK
Our mother, Maria Hiebert Dick (nee Flaming) was born May 12, 1871, in South Russia, being the oldest of 10 children born to Franz and Margaret Wall Flaming.
In 1882 she came to the United States with her parents and they established their home on a farm seven miles south of Mountain Lake, Minnesota.
In 1890, upon confession of Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, she was baptized and received into the fellowship of the E.M.B. church, by the Elder Aron Wall.
May 24, 1892, she was united in holy wedlock to our father, Cornelius C. Hiebert, thereby also taking over the care of four children, Lena, Cornelius, Elizabeth and Henry.
To this union were born seven children. Two of them, Marie and Margaret, died in 1913.
In 1919 our parents gave up farming and moved to a residence in Mountain Lake. Their happiness of retirement was marred in 1923 when Father Hiebert passed away on July 23. Father and mother had shared joys and sorrows for over 31 years.
June 2, 1929, mother was married to John J. Dick. This union lasted only five years, nine months and 23 days, Father Dick being called into the great Beyond March 27, 1935.
In her lonely state, mother maintained her Faith, in God, and was deeply concerned over the spiritual welfare of her children and grandchildren. She attended Sunday church services as long as health permitted, but in later years she enjoyed radio sermons, and spent much time reading the Bible.
During her lifetime mother was sick a number of times and had two operations, the last one being an operation to restore her failing eye-sight three years ago.
She appreciated visits from friends, relatives and neighbors. She kept herself busy with hand-work, and did her own housework until health failed and she was taken to the Bethel hospital. After a month’s serious illness, being unconscious for 4 weeks, she went to her eternal reward Sept. 22, 1952, at 1:30 p.m., reaching the age of 81 years, four months and 10 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure five children, Frank B. Hiebert, Bingham Lake, Anne, Mrs. Frank Rempel, Nick C. Hiebert, George C. Hiebert, Peter C. Hiebert, all of Mt. Lake; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
