text of obituary:
JOHN H. DICK
John H. Dick, son of Henry and Elizabeth Wiebe Dick, was born May 23, 1893, at Mountain Lake, Minn. At the age of 14 years he, with his parents, moved to Munich, North Dakota.
On June 3, 1917, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Elder N. F. Toews and received as a member into the Salem Mennonite church of Munich.
He was united in holy matrimony with Marie Friesen on July 31, 1921. In 1923 they moved to O’Neil, Nebraska, where they made their home until March 1936, when they moved to Henderson, Nebr. To this union were born five children, Luella May, Arlo Frank, Harvey Allen, Arthur Ray, and Howard James. The first three children preceded their father in death. Arthur and wife are living at St. James, Minn., and Howard is at home.
In 1937 he was advised to quit farming due to failing health, at which time the family moved to Henderson. On July 4, 1948, he became ill. At first his illness was diagnosed as liver and gall trouble and later as cancer. After five weeks of much suffering, he was taken to his heavenly home on Sept. 23, 1948, at 3:45 p. m. He reached the age of 55 years and four months.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two children, a daughter-in-law, one sister, one brother, and many relatives and friends. Although we mourn his departure, we are not without hope. Our husband and father was patient in suffering, one who never complained. He had an inner peace with God, so that he was able to commit himself into the care of his Heavenly Father and be ready to go in the way which God chose for him. He was much interested in the church, and in a special way in home mission work. In his business he sought to put into practice his Christian faith, being willing to trust his customers and trying to deal fairly with them.
