— Relatives here received word of the death of Jack Dick, 25, who was killed in an auto accident in Florida last Saturday. His mother, Mrs. Flora Dick, formerly of Newton, was en route from California to see him and the accident occurred before her arrival there. He had recently been transferred from an army base in Greenland. He was a grandson of Mrs. Marie Dick of Newton.

JACK H. DICK

The body of S/Sgt. Jack Herbett [sic Herbert] Dick, former Newton resident who was killed Saturday, Jan. 26, in an auto crash in Florida, arrived here by train and a memorial service was held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Christian church.

Rev. Norvil W. Underwood officiated and burial was in the Dick family lot in Greenwood cemetery.

Born August 1, 1925, in Newton, Sgt. Dick was the son of Mrs. Flora Dick and the late Herbert (Abe), Dick, whose death occurred in 1938. He was 26 years of age

Sgt. Dick served in the navy during World War II and later reenlisted in the air force. He spent two years in Greenland and Newfoundland and returned to the States December 6 of last year.

He was stationed at Elgin Field Fla., and was en route to Panama City when he lost control of his car and it overturned. He was killed instantly.

In addition to his wife, Joanne he is survived by two children, his mother, one sister, Mrs. Raymond (Donna Lee) Kline of Mound Valley, Kans., and his grandmother Mrs. C. C. Dick of Newton.
