Retired Mt. Lake Minister Called by Death at Age 87
Word was received here that Rev. I. J. Dick, 87, retired minister of Mt. Lake, Minn., died in the hospital there Saturday morning, Nov. 18, after a long illness.
Rev. Dick served in the ministry at the First Mennonite Church of Mt. Lake for a period of about 40 years. Her also engaged in farming. His wife, the former Helen Schroeder, died four years ago. In recent years Rev. Dick had been a guest at Eventide Home in Mt. Lake. He was in the hospital for about a month before his passing.
Funeral services were to be held Monday at the First Mennonite Church, with Rev. Harold Thieszen in charge.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Nick Klassen of Buffalo, Minn., Mrs. Willard Unruh of North Newton, and Mrs. Howard Stucky of McPherson. There are 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

REV. ISAAC J. DICK
Isaac J. Dick, son of Jacob J. and Elizabeth Voth Dick, was born at Mt. Lake, Minn., on May 22, 1885. He received his education at the elementary school at Mt. Lake and graduated from Bethel Academy and College at North Newton, Kan. in 1913.
On June 4, 1906 he was baptized and upon confession of his faith was received into the First Mennonite Church of Mt. Lake by Elder Gerhard Neufeld.
He married Helen J. Schroeder on Aug. 31, 1912. To this union three daughters were born.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick returned to Mt. Lake after completing his college work and served the First Mennonite Church as pastor from 1913 until 1947. He served as president of the Mennonite Aid Society for 22 years and was on the Board for 40 years. He was also president of the Bethel Hospital Board for many years. Mr. Dick enjoyed farm work along with the ministry and retired from farming in 1966. He was also an avid reader.
Mr. Dick had been a resident of the Eventide Home in Mt. Lake since July 1969. He had been in failing health for the past two years. He was admitted to the Mt. Lake Community Hospital on Nov. 1, 1972. He died on Nov. 18, attaining the age of 87.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Nick (Marcella) Klaassen, Buffalo, Minn.; Mrs. Willard (Selma) Unruh, North Newton, Kan.; Mrs. Howard (Mildred) Stucky, McPherson, Kan. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother.
Funeral services were held Monday forenoon, Nov. 20, 1972 at the First Mennonite Church of Mt. Lake. Pastor Harold D. Thieszen officiated.
